MSMR Architect's affordable housing at Alice Street, London SE1 has been shortlisted in the projects category for this year's Housing Design Awards. The scheme is designed as part of the NEO Bankside offsite affordable provision.
The site is a long, narrow, derelict, former car park running parallel to Tower Bridge Road, acknowledged by Southwark Council to be less than attractive. The innovative design for this scheme means nine 4 and 5 bedroom affordable family homes for the social rented sector will be built. Public and private amenity space is a priority and the arrangement of living spaces around a courtyard connects the inside and outside areas both visually and physically.
