The MSMR Travel Award has now become a firm fixture of the end of year show at Sheffield School of Architecture (SSoA) which, for the second time, was held in virtual format on Zoom. Director, Simon Robinson awarded the annual prize of £2,000 to Aayushi Bajwala and Hannah Maxley, pictured.
The prize is offered to third year architecture students, funding a trip that will enable them to obtain first-hand experience of buildings, places and environments, while furthering their knowledge and understanding of Architecture.
The winning proposal is underpinned by an academic thesis explored by Aayushi and Hannah in their respective dissertations, focussing on the concept of ‘walking thoughtfully’. Given its interesting topography and curious architectural context, the judges were also intrigued by the choice of location, Las Vegas.
On their trip they hope to make a travel-zine, recording their experiences of walking through the bustling Las Vegas Boulevard and beyond into the contrasting landscape surrounding the city.
Congratulations to Aayushi and Hannah, who will be posting highlights from their travels in and around Las Vegas later this year (subject to safe travel guidelines) on Instagram, #msmrtravelaward.
