On a chilly November day, the MSMR team visited the Knightsbridge Gate site to celebrate World Quality Day with contractor Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM) and Knightsbridge Gate developer, APML Estate. To celebrate this annual global event, members and collaborators from the project team including; trades artisans, professional team and material suppliers, meet on site to celebrate all things 'quality' and share knowledge.
Meeting members of SRM on site, the team headed up to the roof level first where it was possible to see and talk with the stonemasons installing restored stone to the top of the historic façade. Elsewhere new-build elements were also under construction, including brickwork and a timber roof frame.
The buildings’ incredible retained façade spans an entire block of Knightsbridge High Street and is being carefully restored and woven into the new-build structure behind. Whilst touring the future high-end apartments, the team discussed our design and layout of the interior architecture which maximise the views out over the Belgravia rooftops. The interiors will reflect the Edwardian heritage of the original building, with subtle elements of contemporary design. Clever detailing celebrates the choice of high quality materials selected for use within both the residential apartments and common parts.
