This project involved the amalgamation, refurbishment and redevelopment of a Grade II listed, Victorian public house and an unlisted adjacent property. Working within the constraints of the historic plan and the existing fabric of the buildings, the scheme re-organised the interior spaces.
MSMR’s design created a stand alone residential element comprising three two-bedroom apartments on the second to fourth floors. A traditional feel was retained, inspired by the public house and the original features of the listed West End building as well as incorporating new contemporary finishes, fittings and services.
The commercial premises over the basement, ground and first floor were upgraded. Existing historic features and panelling in the pub were retained and many original features sensitively refurbished.
MSMR provided a full architectural service for The Crown Estate on the residential section of the development and shell and core of the commercial areas. The scheme is designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
