Landlocked to the rear, this 4,000 sq. ft. scheme involved the construction of a new-build mews house behind a retained façade.
Accommodation is arranged over three levels including a new basement, designed around a double height internal courtyard with glazed roof to draw light into the property. The layout of the basement covers the full extent of the site and contains utility rooms, a playroom, gym and cinema room. Additionally a floating stair allows light to penetrate vertically through the house down to the basement level.
Externally the appearance of the new building is sympathetic in style and material finish to the adjoining properties whilst MSMR’s design for the new build element improved the constructional quality, thermal performance and energy efficiency of the house.
The site sits within the Norland Conservation Area.
